'The Witcher 3': New Patch Update Will Improve User Interface

An update for 'The Witcher 3' will be released over the weekend and it comes with a fix for the game's cluttered and confusing interface. Developer CD Projekt Red will be launching update 1.20 across all platforms early next week, ahead of the game's much awaited final expansion,"Blood and Wine."

According to Polygon, "The Witcher 3" user interface is one of the game's main weaknesses and the patch will fix this issue, alongside a couple other tweaks in the game. Update 1.20 allows Geralt to read books and scroll through them after picking them up, without needing to go to the inventory.

In addition, the inventory menu will be receiving a major overhaul and will be sorted into five grid subcategories: weapons and armor, oils, potions and bombs, quest items and others, food and equestrian gear and, lastly, crafting and alchemy. Players using gamepads can navigate through the improved inventory with the right stick.

The Quick Access menu will be tweaked as well. Players can choose to pause the game completely when the quick menu is up or slow down the action, which is the default setting.

The update will enhance the game display as well, particularly for buffs. The buff icon will now blink 10 seconds before the effect wears out and the names and the exact expiration times will only be visible when the Quick Access menu is opened.

The patch will also allow players to increase the difficulty level for enemies, but it will not have an effect on the loot dropped nor the experience gained. The change is aimed for high-level players who want a bit of a challenge out of enemy encounters.

The developers have also added a book called "A Miraculous Guide to Gwent," which is a useful tool for the 'Collect 'Em All' achievement. The book displays the number of gwent cards the player doesn't have yet and gives information on where to find them.

Players can get the book either from the gwent playing scholar in Prologue or from the merchant in Gildorf district of Novigrad, near St. Gregory's Bridge. Full patch notes can be seen here.
