NBA Trade Rumor: Boston Celtics Hopes Gerald Green Will Inspire Younger Players

Boston Celtics is reportedly signing up Miami Heat player Gerald Green for the 2016-2107 season play. The NBA veteran is known for his offensive skills.

Green is known for his three point shots although the accuracy rate has been suffering for quite some time now. This is also probably the reason why the Miami Heat is letting Green go. His numerous three point attempts only got him less than nine points per game, according to Basketball Reference.

His dismal performance forced the Miami Heat to reduce his court time to an average of around 15 minutes in the Post All-Star Break games, according to Fansided. Observers are speculating that the Boston Celtics are possibly hoping that Green can increase his three point shots accuracy rate when he joins the team. The Celtics themselves are not known for their three point shooting prowess.

Instead, the Celtics are hoping that Green can inspire or at least keep the new and young players to be on their feet. His inclusion to the team however, is unlikely to affect the current players, except James Young, according to Fansided.

There are speculations that James Young is on his way out. The Celtics are having second thoughts if they will let the 20-year old player stay. But with Green coming to Boston, letting Young go seems like a good idea.

Green's entry to the Boston team can also put pressure R.J. Hunter. Both of these players are three point shooters. However, observers are speculating that the Celtics are more comfortable assigning the three point shots to a veteran like Green.

Still Hunter has proven his three point shooting skills. His last performance in the summer league showed an almost 50 percent accuracy. He has also has performed much better in his second season. However, if Green comes in, Hunter may have a hard time proving his worth to the team.
