Free 2016 August PlayStation Plus Games Include 'Yakuza 5,' 'Patapon 3' & More

Free PlayStation Plus games this August will include various titles for the PS4, PS3 and Vita platforms. Game titles such as "Yakuza 5" and "Patapon 3" will be launched by August 2, 2016. Unfortunately, only "Ultratron" is available on all three Sony game platforms.

Free PS4 games will include "Rebel Galaxy", "Tricky Tower" and "Ultratron", according to Game Spot. "Rebel Galaxy" is a single-player space simulation game. PS4 gamers assumed the life of a space cargo pilot. Players transport valuable items throughout the galaxy while defending their load from space pirates.

Players will definitely remember Tetris as they play "Tricky Towers". This free game can be considered as the next level for Tetris players. Meanwhile, "Ultratron" is an updated "classic old school arcade game", according to its developer Puppy Games. The human race has been wiped out by evil robots. Players will assume the role of a good droid unleashed to avenge the dead humans.

The three PS3 free games are "Retro/Grade", "Ultratron" and "Yakuza 5", according to Game Zone. "Retro/Grade" presents unique gameplay. It is basically a musical game played in reverse. Players have to "un-fire" while avoiding getting hit by their opponents. All this chaos is accompanied by the electronic music from Nautilus, according to its developer, Caret Games.

"Yakuza 5" is the fifth installment in the open world game series. It was initially released by game developer Sega in late 2012. As the title explicitly states, the game is based on the notorious Japanese "mafia".

There are only two free PS Vita games available for August and they are "Patapon 3" and "Ultratron". The rhythm game "Patapon 3" is the third sequel in the series. Just like the earlier installments, it features a cartoon setting. This time, however, game developers Pyramid and Japan Studio improved its multiplayer mode and settings.

These free PlayStation Plus games are only available to European and North American subscribers. Interested PS gamers either need to update their subscription or apply for a new one.
