Both the iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 are reportedly coming out sometime this year. Based on their rumored specs, prospective buyers are weighing the pros and cons of the upcoming Apple devices.
No iPad Air 3?
First all of all, there are rumors going around that Apple has decided that iPad Air 2 will be the last of its line. If this is true, then there will be no iPad Air 3 coming out this year, or any year for that matter. Unfortunately, this speculation could not be verified as Apple has been very silenct on the matter.
If the Cupertino company is going to launch an iPad Air 3 this 2016, chances are most of its specs are probably the same ones used by the other iPad models. The upcoming iPad Air 3 is supposed to be slimmer and lighter than the Air iPad 2, according to Macworld.
iPad Air 3 Concept Video
A YouTube video uploaded last April purportedly showing a concept look of an Air iPad 3 but suspiciously looks more like an iPad Pro 9.7. Nevertheless, both iPads will probably have the same feature such as a Smart connector and camera as well as a Touch ID and Pencil support.
iPad Mini 5 - No Major Upgrade?
Meanwhile, the iPad Mini 5 is rumored to come out this year but its specs has not been officially announced by Apple. Rumors suggest that it will have the same 7.9 inch display and same camera capabilities as its predecessor, according to the University Herald. However, the fifth generation of the iPad is rumored to feature a less powerful battery.
Conclusion
Since Apple has not made any groundbreaking announcement on either of the iPad models. It is safe to assume that the upcoming Air iPad 3 and iPad Mini 5 will basically be the same as the previous models apart from some minor technical upgrades. Both are also rumored to have the new aluminum 7000 Series frame.
