5 Must-Know MacBook Pro, Air Hacks & Cheats

There is a reason why the MacBook lines of Apple are so popular and it is much more than just about being trendy and having a sleek look. In the right hands and with the right knowledge, the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air really can be one of the most efficient and powerful tools in the market today.

As MacWorld notes, it all started in 2015, when Apple released Mac OS X El Capitan. It was then that the Cupertino-based company really focused on the quality of its operating system's performance and features.

Mac OS X El Capitan started of with tweaks to the interface as well as new full-screen views. It also changed the way that windows were arranged on the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. There were also some improvements made to built-in applications like Stoplight, Safari and Notes.

However, there are still tricks that these devices can do, provided that some research is done, as shared by N4BB.

1. Seeing Double

First, a window must be open. After which, users need to hold on the green button until the window gets smaller. When it does, a blue portion of the screen will be highlighted. The shrunken window can then be moved to this area. Another window can be placed on the other half.

The Split Screen is possible on the iPad Pro as well as MacBook devices.

2. Make the Switch

In order for users to switch between windows, they need only to hold the ⌘ button, followed by the tab button. If there are multiple windows open, the tab button just needs to be pressed multiple times until the desired window opens.

However, users can also easily switch between windows while inside an application. To do this in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, users just need to press the ⌘ button, followed by the ~ button.

There is also the option to slide three fingers over the touch pad, which will show smaller versions of the activated windows. These smaller windows can then be selected.

3. Take the Tab

If switching between windows is not what is desired, there is also the option to have multiple tabs. To open a new tab, simply press ⌘ + T. On the other hand, pressing ⌘ + W will close it. Just in case a user accidentally closes a tab, press ⌘ + Shift + T to retrieve the last closed tab.

4. Spotlight the Finder

The Finder feature is designed to make things easier for the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air user. However, the Finder can sometimes get buried in multiple applications and features. Fortunately, Spotlight makes it all easier - whether it is searching within the device, or on the web.

5. Easier Shots

Taking a screenshot is now simpler in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. To capture the entire screen, users need to just press ⌘+Shift+3. Meanwhile, for just portions of the screen, users should press ⌘+Shift+4.
