What To Expect In 'The Flash,' 'Supergirl' Crossover

Superhero shows “The Flash” and “Supergirl” will be uniting forces for a two-episode musical crossover which will air in the latter part of the year.

The exciting news was revealed during the 2016 Television Critics Association’s press tour on Thursday. “There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl and Flash. They’re going to be mostly preexisting songs," executive producer of CW’s DC shows Greg Berlanti remarked.

The Verge mentioned that the musical crossover will showcase the singing talents of the cast members of both hit series “The Flash” and “Supergirl.” Both Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin owe their musical backgrounds as both are alums of the famous “Glee” series. Other cast members have done broadway musicals like Jesse Martin, who portrayed the role of Tom Collins in "Rent" and Jeremy Jordan who has made several appearances in the broadway production of “Newsies” and the film version of “The Last Five Years”.

Boosting the upcoming treat for “Supergirl” and “The Flash” supporters is Greg Berlanti’s passion for musicals, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve probably been leading the charge myself just because my own nexus of loving musicals and loving superheroes,” Berlanti said. “So many times it’s a musical episode off the set, and I think on all the shows, we love to use all of the character talents as much as possible.”

Fans are still up for more updates as the shows’ producers have not discussed further details yet. Josh Whedon is rumoured to be a perfect fit in directing the musical crossover. Whedon is the legendary writer and director behind some of Marvel Comic’s biggest successes, like “The Avengers” and “X-Men.”

This crossover is entirely different from the four-way crossover that will feature “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow” in December. Now, who’s in for a superb musical crossover?
