Even though season 3 of "Marco Polo" hasn't been confirmed yet, many people have already speculated its storyline. One such speculation, saying that actor Benedict Wong is leaving the series, doesn't seem to be likely.
Benedict Wong Leaving The Series Rumors
"Marco Polo" ended their second season last month. Reports claimed that the season finale got negative reviews which could possibly lead to the cancellation of the series. It is allegedly due to these negative reviews that actor Benedict Wong will no longer be reprising his role as Kublai Khan in the series for its third season.
However, these allegations are reportedly not true. According to Ecumenical News, Benedict Wong is not leaving the show. However, his character will have less screen-tim in the series, based on its storyline. That does not necessarily mean he will no longer be reprising his role.
"We're not done, Monk." Said Series Creator, John Fusco
Even though "Marco Polo" has not yet been officially renewed, fans are extremely hopeful. A hint was also given by series creator John Fusco, when he posted an image on Twitter a photo of a scene that features Kublai Khan and Hundred Eyes, as reported by Christian Today. He captioned the photo with the statement "We're not done, Monk. Me and you, we're not done."
"Marco Polo" And Its High Production Cost Causing Problems
The high production cost of the series raised the hope of the people for a renewal on the show's third season. However, reports claim that it may be a hard decision to make since "Marco Polo" is one of the most expensive shows now on television. It takes a long time to create an entire season, not to mention that the production of the series also costs a fortune. This may also be one of the considerations in renewing the series.
