2016 Galaxy Grand Prime Spotted Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is one of the most adored value smartphones in 2014. It is a simple smartphone that can do every basic thing you would expect from a smartphone. Despite its affordable price, it is LTE enabled and comes with a big 5 inch screen. It has a microSD slot for up to 64 GB memory. It also has a relatively competent camera specs (8 mp rear and 5 mp front). Overall it is a good Android phone. This is probably why Samsung plans to launch a successor to the Grand Prime pretty soon.

Leaks And Rumors About A 2016 Galaxy Grand Prime Surface

As per GSMarena's report, a new leak about the possible Galaxy Grand Prime has been spotted in a GFXBench listing. According to this source, it is expected that the 2016 edition of the Grand Prime will carry a MediaTek chipset. It would also come with an octa-core MT6737T processor. Since this is expected to remain in the lower price group, the overall specs of the phone is not on the high end spectrum of smartphone specifications.

The Galaxy Grand Prime is expected to come with four Cortex A53 cores at 1.4 GHz. It would also be sporting a 5 inch screen with a 540 x 960 resolution. With that said, it looks like this new edition of the Galaxy Grand Prime is very similar to its predecessor.

This new Galaxy phone would also come with an 8 mp / 5 mp camera combo but will get an upgrade in the RAM and OS department. As per the spotted listing, the Galaxy Grand Prime should come with a 2 GB RAM and an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system out of the box. As for the storage, it would be 8 GB and is expected to have a microSD slot at well.

A few weeks back, a different listing also surfaced online and it was also linked to the Galaxy Grand Prime, making the rumors for an upcoming launch all the more reliable. As per TechTime's report, this Galaxy device has been on Zauba more than twice in the recent weeks. Zauba is an import/export tracking website based in India.

According to that listing, a device with a model number of SM-G532F has been shipped to India multiple times in the past weeks. Since the original Grand Prime handset carried the model number SM-G531, it has been easily concluded that the smartphone spotted in Zauba is indeed the 2016 edition of the Galaxy Grand Prime.

Conclusions

With all these rumors, leaks, and listings surfacing online, fans can only assume that a new Galaxy Grand Prime is coming our way. However, until Samsung announces the phone, its release date is still difficult to figure out. But with all these info coming out, the launching of this handset should happen very soon.
