Users Of Xiaomi Supported Devices Get MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM

Xiaomi is rolling out the global stable build for MIUI 8 to supported devices, as promised, via an over-the-air update.

According to Android Police, among Android users the opinions about Xiaomi's MIUI split. Some consider that the OS is too close to Apple's iOS, while others say it is a great refinement of the platform.

No matter your own opinion, it is important to know that now you have access on the MIUI forums to the MIUI 8 download for supported devices with the Global stable ROM. Xiaomi announced the 8th version of its Chinese OS back in May, together with the Mi Max.

Users will progressively see through the Updater app the OTA notification on their phones. Xiaomi has also released the MIUI 8 China Stable ROM along with the global ROM.

Among the supported Xiaomi devices eligible to receive the latest MIUI version are included Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi 3, 3S/Prime, Note Prime, Note 2, Note 3G, Note 3 Special Edition, Note 3 Qualcomm, Note 4G, Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 5, Mi Max and Mi Note. The OTA update for MIUI 8 is live for users of Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Note 2, Note 3G, Note 4G, Mi 2/2S and Mi 4i.

On August 25, the update will become widely available for more users. According to the company's official blog, all other Xiaomi supported devices will get the MIUI 8 OTA update in phases.

What's New In MIUI 8

According to International Business Times, Xiaomi intends to position its MIUI 8 like an evolution of the Android-based operating system. The update introduces new features, including an all-new gallery app and "scrolling screenshots."

Scrolling screenshots fit as much as needed into a single screenshot instead of taking a screenshot, then scrolling down. The all-new gallery comes with the ability to delete a photo from a device (but not from the cloud) as well as the possibility to make automatic adjustments when sharing a photo.
