Pokemon Go version 0.35.0 and 1.5.0 for Android and iOS respectively are now available in stores. Excited about the 'Appraisal' feature, I went ahead and updated the app on my phone. I was so thrilled to know about what my Pokemon IV stats are without consulting the IV calculator where you have to input go to a PC, input your individual Pokemon information and only there you will know your Pokemon IV in Pokemon Go. For those who just jumped in, the main feature for this release is the 'Pokemon Appraisal' where, depending on your Pokemon team, either Candel, Spark, or Blanche would pop up on the UI and give statements or 'appraisals' about your Pokemon.
How to activate your team leader
As we all know, the UI for Pokemon Go is supposed to be intuitive, but based on experience, it took me sometime to locate what button to tap to make my team leader pop up and say things. I even initially thought they would automatically pop up during gym battles.
How to actually get there? Just tap on your Pokeball, then your Pokemon inventory ans pick one Pokemon. On the bottom right, click on the menu icon. This will produce more menu icons. Along with 'transfer' and 'make favorite', there is a new button called 'Appraise' represented by a ribbon icon.
Expectation versus reality
Much to my surprise, these team leaders in Pokemon Go say nothing but phrases implying on an estimate of what your Pokemon IV might be. There are no exact details on IV stats, just a bunch of literal 'Appraisals'.
What I expected was something like: "Pytermon, this Psyduck's range stat bonus is 37/45, stat bonus of 15, size is XL"
What actually happened: "Overall, your Psyduck is a wonder! What a breathtaking Pokemon!" This and a bunch of similar sentences after. Pretty frustrating considering of what was expected.
What now?
The guys at PokemonDB.net have thought of putting things together for us and gathered all phrases, then matched them with actual IV stats. Data on this site might change, so it is recommended to pay them a visit as much as you like. I have summed up the highest stats so that it is easier to memorize per team so if it doesn't read like below, then it is a weaker statistic. For the complete list, click here.
