There hasn't been any confirmation up to now regarding the renewal of "Marco Polo" for Season 3. In spite of this, the fans of the series are very hopeful that they will once again see the characters on Netflix.
Speculations are going around that the Netflix series "Marco Polo" has been cancelled and will no longer be renewed for a third season. However, the fans have not given up their hope yet especially that the creators and producer have hinted out the possibility of a third season.
Benedict Wong To Reprise His Role As Kublai Khan
One of the reasons for the alleged cancellation of the series has something to do with actor Benedict Wong. He is reportedly not coming back to the show anymore even if it will be renewed. He stars as Kublai Khan on "Marco Polo" and since the production has wrapped up the second season, the actor is now busy for an upcoming movie from Marvel Cinematic Universe entitled "Doctor Strange," as reported by Christian Today.
However, some reports retracted that statement saying that the actor is only waiting for the official renewal of "Marco Polo." Until then, he is otherwise occupied with other projects. His character on the series will no longer be a main focus of the storyline, given that they will be granted with Season 3.
Lorenzo Richelmy Says He Is Returning To "Marco Polo" Upon Renewal
One of the stars of the series, Lorenzo Richelmy, also revealed in an interview that he hasn't heard any news yet with regards to the renewal of the series, according to Movie News Guide. Like Wong, he has decided to venture in other projects since "Marco Polo" is still questionable at hand.
He has assured the fans however that if the show gets picked up once more, he will not be leaving "Marco Polo," despite different allegations. He says that he is lucky to be a part of the team and will be honoured to reprise his role on the series.
There have been reports that upon announcement of renewal, the third season of "Marco Polo" will premiere in 2018.
