Xbox One Free September Games: 'Earthlock: Festival of Magic,' 'Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China'; More Download Schedules Revealed

Xbox One is set to receive new games this coming September including "Earthlock: Festival of Magic," "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" and "Forza Horizon." Microsoft recently announced that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will get these games for free which will be available for download on scheduled dates.

The first game arriving to Xbox One next month is "Earthlock: Festival of Magic" which is an Xbox One and Steam exclusive. "Earthlock: Festival of Magic" is an RPG game that features lots of in-game exploration and battles similar to Final Fantasy. The said game is reportedly available for free starting Sept. 1 to 30.

"Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" is the second game to arrive in Xbox One for free. The 2D take on the "Assassin's Creed" franchise will feature all the staples of running, climbing and stealth action. "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" will be available for download from Sept. 16 to Oct. 15.

"Forza Horizon" will also be available for free play on Xbox One via Xbox One Backward Compatibility. The game is an open-world racing game that will let players rise to the top of driver rankings through official races or earning points for destroying road signs, catching air or drifting. The scheduled date for download for "Forza Horizon" is from Sept. 1 to 15.

Meanwhile, aside from the free games for Xbox One, Microsoft will also be releasing additional free games for Xbox 360. "Forza Horizon" is the first game to be available for Xbox 360 while the second game is "Mirror's Edge." "Mirror's Edge" will be offered to Gold subscribers and will be available for download on Sept. 16 to 30.

Xbox One titles will be available as free downloads for a limited time only. It is important to note, however, that players need to be qualified paid Xbox Live Gold members in all markets where Xbox Live is available in order to download the game. Also, some regions might offer different titles depending on the game's market availability. Meanwhile, watch "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" gameplay here.
