Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice is an upcoming game for the Nintendo 3DS. It is based on the Ace Attorney television series.
Ace Attorney Preview and Game Demo
Game developer Capcom presented last week it's Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice demo at the Nintendo electronic store. The demo also had a back story preview which should be viewed first before attempting to play the game demo, according to Gamespresso.
The Ace Attorney series started a little over 15 years ago. The show has become successful enough that the Japanese show is being dubbed and localized to several languages including English, according to Siliconera.
The video preview tells the story of a civil war in Khura'in that started when defense lawyers were deemed unnecessary in court trials. That did not sit well with many of its citizens who rebelled against the new legal rule. The series courtroom hero, Phoenix Wright and other characters were later introduced and presented in the usual comical manner
The preview ends where Maya's screaming voice is the last thing Wright heard over the cell phone. He immediately packs his bags and flew straight to Khura'in
Game Storyline and Mechanics
The demo starts to where the video preview ends. It's a game about lawyers but quite different from courtroom dramas Americans are used to. The demo will acquaint players with the "Séance" feature. In this demo, players will assume the role of Phoenix Wright.
Unfortunately, Wright's client is hostile against him. Nevertheless the defense attorney will have to solve a puzzle that can help his client. Kura'in Judge or Priestess Rayfa Padma will then use her Divination Séance to determine the defendant's guilt.
The séance mechanic will then be carefully explained during the first minutes in the game demo. It's a bit complicated compared to other gaming genres. But players could easily get hang of it especially if they are fans of Ace Attorney.
