Microsoft is expected to release the latest Windows 10 update very soon. Dubbed as Redstone 2, this update is expected to bring in some important changes to the current Windows 10 system. However, according to the insiders who are testing the new update, Redstone 2 doesn't really have a lot of features, and the focus of the company is on the system's under-the-hood improvements.
Windows Redstone 2 New Features
Although a minor improvement to some, the new People Bar feature on Redstone 2 is a well thought of addition by the Microsoft team. This new feature allows the taskbar to show the faces of your recent and active contacts. According to a source, the People Bar will be hooked up to relevant apps like Skype and Groupme. This may also be connected to Office to improve the collaboration of people in teams.
According to the Windows Central, the People Bar has been in development even before the previous Windows update has been released. There have also been codes that directs to this rumor. Take note however, that if Microsoft does release this feature, the company may or may not use People Bar as its label. It is possible for them to come up with a different name for this.
Another expected feature to come with Redstone 2 is the Blue Light. This feature will be similar to f.lux that changes the visual settings of your screen depending on your surroundings and current time. The function of this feature is to avoid strain in the users' eyes and allow people to do long-hours and nighttime computing without risking their eyesight.
So far, additional details about the latest Windows update have been scarce. But there have been news about the Redstone 2 being used in Microsoft Surface Pro 5. So if the Surface tablet gets announced first, it would also give us a glimpse on the next PC update that is the Windows 10 Redstone 2. It is also possible that the Surface devices would be announced together with the new update.
