Netflix's famous original historical drama "Marco Polo" is already bound for the third season but there hasn't been any announcement to confirm it just yet. Pushing back of its declaration is allegedly caused by Benedict Wong's many other commitments and has led to the delay of the series production.
Benedict Wong Causes Delay In Production Due To Many Commitments
Amidst all the cancellation rumors for Netflix's original series "Marco Polo," there have been reports insisting that the show is not cancelled, rather just delayed in production. It has been reported that one of the show's protagonists, Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) is occupied with many other projects that it has not given him any time to start the production of the series.
Benedict Wong is currently part of the upcoming Marvel movie "Doctor Strange" which is set to premiere this November. Due to this, if and when "Marco Polo" returns for the third season, it has been reported that the storyline will give lesser light to his character as Kublai Khan to give way for his other commitments. This gives the creators of the show more room to focus on the other characters, and even add new ones.
"Marco Polo" Season 3 To Be Aired In Another Network?
Aside from the speculations that the series is just delayed and the third season of "Marco Polo" will soon be announced, there have also been reports saying that the series will continue its story in another network.
However, according to executive producer John Fusco, the second season of the series received just as much praises as it did the first season, which has made them feel positive for its renewal to be announced soon enough.
Both the critics and the viewers of the series have good feedbacks on "Marco Polo" season two, indicating no issues with racism given that the series features characters of all races. Even though it hasn't been formally announced yet, the production team is hopeful for a third season, be it to continue on Netflix or to be adapted by another network.
