Apple has announced that the new operating system macOS Sierra will be released later this month, on Sept. 20.
Release Date Of Apple's MacOS Sierra
According to CNET, during the 2016 product event that took place on Wednesday, Sept. 7, Apple kept the focus on its mobile products, introducing the highly-anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The Apple Watch 2 has also been introduced at the event.
Apple did not mention its Mac computers during the product event that took place in San Francisco. However, an update of Apple's MacO Sierra page on the company's website includes now a release date for the macOS Sierra operating system, scheduled for September 20.
MacOS Sierra will be a free upgrade, as with past OS X releases. Apple will make it available via the Mac's App Store, and the update will work on Mac computers from late-2009 or later.
According to MacWorld, during the company's annual Worldwide Developer's Conference in June, Apple gave us a sneak peak of its upcoming macOS Sierra. The new Mac operating system will introduce features such as optimized storage via iCloud Drive, Siri integration, auto unlock via Apple Watch, a universal clipboard, and Apple Pay on the Web.
The AI personal virtual assistant Siri will make its debut for the first time on Mac computers. It will replace several features of Spotlight, such as setting reminders, helping users to interact with their computer, adjusting the volume, turning on or off the Wi-Fi or starting FaceTime calls.
Other interesting updates that will be introduced by macOS Sierra have been made in the Photos app. This will come with new features that take advantage of computer vision in order to arrange places, things and people in album collections.
Before the final release scheduled for Sept. 20, Apple has released several public and developers betas of the upcoming operating system. These were meant to polish the final version of macOS Sierra, cleaning up any bugs and performance issues.
