HBO concluded its crime drama miniseries “The Night Of” with attention-grabbing details that left the viewers with many puzzling questions.
The finale was tuned to Naz being freed from imprisonment, however, the show did not arrive into a definite revelation whether he is guilty or innocent. Fans of the thrilling show have mixed reactions as some were disappointed while others are highly satisfied of the ending.
It is likely for any tv series to have its turns and twists on the storyline. While we have our own theories as to how we like to wrap up our favorite show, still the showrunners have their final say.
Main Character Riz Ahmed, related to Variety his contentment on the fate of the first season.
“I found it really satisfying in the sense that I think a lot of murder cases are resolved in a way that is not clean cut. It was really character driven, and it's more about the journey that the characters go on rather than solving for "x." I actually found it to be resolved in a very classy and bittersweet way that was still dramatically satisfying,” Ahmed explained.
Season 1 effectively nailed their goal of ending the series with a bang. With its major hit to viewers, it is highly anticipated that the show is likely to renew its second season.
iTech Post, in a related report, mentioned that the show is meant as a “stand –alone piece” and director Steven Zaillian is eager to pursue a new season given the appropriate material.
When asked about the possibility of season 2 as a follow – up on Naz’s case and to clear the ambiguity the previous season left, Riz dropped a hint that could sadden the followers of the popular drama.
“I think it was conceived of as a one-season one-off, and perhaps there's a second season they might do a different case like they did in the British version of the show. I think sometimes it's said, "Better to quit while you're ahead."
