GPU giant Nvidia has created a tribute mod for Fallout 4 named Vault 1080. As suggested by its name, it is said to be packing with serious graphic technology punch.
The mod took at least 6 months to create and was done by Lightspeed Studio, Nvidia's internal team. Vault 1080 is very similar in terms of size to the other existing vaults from the main game it even comes with its very own quest line. The mod was launched Sept. 2.
What about it?
As reported by PCGamer.com and the Nvidia site itself, it is claimed to be Fallout 4 like we have never seen before, leaning mostly on volumetric lighting, has more realistic textures and shadows. It uses HBAO+ which is a technique improving the existing ambient occlusion.
Story?
Nvidia's Steve Williams describe it as:
"It's a dark and ominous journey before you even head below ground, as you travel to the ruins of a fog-shrouded church through hostile marshland. Once in you find the entrance to Vault 1080 and its dark, intimidating tunnels. Tunnels that are, inevitably, full of twisted dangers."
How can we get it?
First of all, you should be on PC, well for now as mods can jump to consoles anytime soon. Users can now download the mod from Bethesda, also from the Nexus Mods. IGN is kind enough to post it in details here: How To Install Mods page, thanks, you guys!
Done installing, how do I find this vault 1080?
A new quest should pop up, after installing the mod, particularly at the Church of the Valley. It will then point you to a hut located at the very edge of some marsh Southwest of Vault 111. Once there, search the mailbox within the area where the hut is and you will find a note. It will trigger the quest.
