In time for the 20th death anniversary of the iconic rapper Tupac Shakur on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the second trailer for his biopic "All Eyez On Me" was released. The movie starring Demetrius Shipp Jr. is scheduled for release on Nov. 11.
Directed by Benny Boom under Morgan Creek Production, the film is closely based on the life of the rapper from his journey to becoming one of the greatest rap performers until his untimely death after a drive-by shooting.
Official Release Of 'All Eyez on Me' Initial Trailer
Earlier in June, the first trailer for the film was released in time for the West Coast-based rapper's 45th birthday. The initial teaser featured shots of an FBI raid and the famous courthouse interview that Shakur made in 1994.
The film is set to cover the most important details in the legendary rapper's life from how he survived the hip hop rivalry between the east and the west coast to his incarceration and involvement in political activism. The trailer also features Shakur's stage performances.
Tupac Biopic Pre-production
Despite the initial scuffles in production, "All Eyez On Me" finally pushed through.
There were earlier reports that the targeted release date for the film was September 2016, aiming to make it in time for the rapper's 20th death anniversary. However, the people behind the production had to face song copyright issues that the release date had to be pushed back. Instead, the company decided to release another trailer to hype Tupac biopic's November release.
Movie Casting
Based on IMDB, notable movie stars who would be in the portrayal of Tupac's life include Jamal Woolard who will play the American rapper, The Notorious B.I.G., and "The Walking Dead" cast members Danai Gurira and Lauren Cohan who would play the roles of Afeni Shakur and Leila Steinberg, respectively.
