Amazon Accidentally Unveils All-New Echo Dot

Amazon's Echo Dot has been understandable sold out since July. With the device, the company slightly revolutionized Bluetooth speakers. It had the ability to respond to voice commands and was small yet powerful. Its popularity is evident, so when Amazon mistakenly released an announcement for an integration of the device, plenty were quick to jump on the opportunity.

The Mistake

As Recode reported, it was Monday when Amazon posted the tweet. "Introducing the all-new Echo Dot. Add Alexa to any room - now for just $49.99," it read. However, the link that finished the post only lead to the "sold out" Amazon page that was showcasing the original Echo Dot.

As such, the publication has come to the conclusion that Amazon has every plan to release a new Echo Dot, but that someone within the company mistakenly uncovered it too soon. The tweet has also been deleted.

The Original

The original Echo Dot was priced at $89.99 and was first unveiled in March. Despite its relatively steep price tag, it sold out quickly over the summer when it was still available for purchase.

C|Net's previous review of the device held it in very high regard. Not only did the publication love the ease that came with the voice-connectivity and cloud connection of the Echo Dot, but it also praised Alexa, who was the built-in virtual assistant in the device.

In addition, owners also had the opportunity to connect the Echo Dot with their own set of speakers, thereby personalizing just how high the audio quality of the entire system is. This is an especially good feature because the unit is not exactly large enough to fill a room with killer sounds. The Echo Dot is, however, powerful enough to hold on its own.

What's The Big Deal?

The big deal is the deal itself. Even at $89.99, the Echo Dot was a steal for many, which is exactly why the device is still sold out. Depending on the specifications of the new speaker, $49.99 could be an even bigger steal.
