A leaked image of "Assassin's Creed: Empire" has made rounds recently which seemed to confirm some new details about the game, including the release date and location. One industry insider, however, claimed that these details might be false.
A YouTuber named LazerZ has claimed in a video of the possibility that the image recently leaked by a tipster via Facebook regarding "Assassin's Creed: Empire" could be fake. Early last week, a supposed demo video of the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" game revealed that Empire will come out in 2017.
The "Assassin's Creed: Empire" video that first came out in an "Assassin's Creed" Facebook page based in Vietnam, LazerZ noted, is the same video "used by [Ubisoft's] shareholders meeting." Interestingly enough, the leaked image on Facebook was released on the same day the video came out.

LazerZ explained that the uploaded "Assassin's Creed: Empire" video was taken down by Ubisoft which points to two opposing possibilities: first, it might be really true; and second, it might be false. Last January, Kotaku already reported that "Assassin's Creed: Empire" will be set in Egypt adding that there is no 2016 release happening. Rumors nevertheless continued to ensue.

The latest "Assassin's Creed: Empire" update came out from Express, stating that "leaked production and final pyramid renders appear to confirm an Egyptian setting." Even so, this is yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft's Tommy Francois noted recently that 2017 might not be the ideal date for the game. He told IGN: "This is the goal we're going for: Alpha one year before, more quality, more polish. So if this means biting the [bullet] and not having an Assassin's game or a Far Cry [in 2017]."
