'Criminal Minds' Season 12 News And Updates: Actor Thomas Gibson Kicked Producer On The Leg? Heated Argument Led To Termination?

Fans of the hit series "Criminal Minds" Season 12 went abuzz about the untimely departure of actor Thomas Gibson on the show. Rumors surfaced online that the reason behind his exit is a heated argument with the show's producer.

According to reports, Thomas Gibson, who played as Aaron Hotchner, apparently made "physical contact" with the show's writer/ producer Virgil Williams. As revealed by Williams during the making of "Criminal Minds" Season 12, Gibson "confronted him" after a misunderstanding with the series' script.

These allegations have cost Gibson his role in the show and his reputation became more of a "bad guy." This led the actor to break his silence and explain his side of the story. According reports, Gibson explained that he did go to Williams to discuss some contradicting lines in the script. However, Williams insisted that the lines were important and should stay as it is. Although frustrated, the actor stressed that there was no "major physical altercation."

Following the said discussion, Gibson claims to step away and vent out. Apparently, Williams followed him. As reported, Williams was walking past Gibson when the actor's foot came up. The actor's foot "tapped" the producer on the leg. Gibson claims that if he did not move, the producer would have run into him. After the incident, Gibson was said to apologize on the set the next day.

Gibson was still able to shoot for "Criminal Minds" Season 2 Episode 2 when he was reprimanded with a two-week suspension. He was then later informed of being dismissed from the series.

With Gibson off the show, a new character is expected to join the team. "The Divide" actor Damon Gupton will be playing Special Agent Stephen Walker. According to a statement released by showrunner Erica Messer, Gupton has been confirmed to join the "Criminal Minds" BAU family. "We're excited to have Damon join the show and work alongside our amazing cast and crew," Walker stated.

Catch "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 2 titled "Sick Day" on Wednesday at 9pm.
