Why Apple's TV Production Was Discontinued

Apple might be in the frontline of a seeming endless unveiling spree of new products. However, the company seems have opted to discontinue the further production of its third-generation Apple TV. It will also put an end to the sales of it, once all of the current orders are shipped out.

According to 9to5Mac, this would be the end of the road for the Apple TV. It is worth knowing that it was first introduced in 2012, experienced a major upgrading on 2013 and then given a special discount of $69 last 2015. With this, one can see the declining popularity of the device.

On the brighter side, the fourth-generation Apple TV is still available in the market without any price discounts or changes in its storage capacity. Another proof that the Apple TV is indeed worthy of a stoppage is that it haven't received any drastic changes to its software, making it lag behind other more popular products.

The Apple TV's operating system is still running on the old iOS 8.4. Despite many speculations about a possible fourth-generation Apple TV, all of these remained to be mere speculations and nothing more.

As of now, the current Apple TV is two iOS versions behind iOS 10. Another reason is that Apple is left with no midrange or lower end TV streaming box, making its further improvements face a sudden halt.

What seals the deal for the impending doom of the Apple TV is that it isn't capable of handling 4K resolution or even HDR one. What makes it worse is that you need to pay a whopping $149 or $199 for an old tech product.

If the current trend on the seeming stagnant state that the Apple TV is currently in still continues, then surely the TV streaming box is truly facing extinction.
