A television ad for "Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization" for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game was released on Friday, Oct. 7. The ad features the game plot and Haruka Tomatsu's ending theme song titled "Two of Us." Bandai Namco also teased a large update coming within this year.
"Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization" is set for Japan release on Oct. 27. Good news for fans, as Bandai Namco will also be releasing limited editions which will contain special contents including a Blu-ray Disc and soundtrack CD that comes with a special case, pamphlets, mini posters and free product code for Asuna's maid costume for early buyers.
On the other hand, the game will be available in North America and Europe on Nov. 8. Pre-ordered game sets will include Asuna and God Eater's costume pack as well as a signed lithography by SAO creator Reki Kawahara. A collector's edition for PS4 containing Asuna and Kirito's 6-inch figures, bonus and soundtrack disks, decal sheets and posters will also be released.
Anime News Network reported there will be a large free update for "Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization" sometime this year, which will add more story arcs, maps and additional functions like user feedback. Seven and Rain's characters will also be added from "Sword Art Online: Lost Song."
In the "Sword Art Online: Lost Song" gameplay -- which follows an alternate timeline than the orginal novel series and features the characters in their exploration of ALfheim Online -- Nanairo "Seven" Arshavin is the leader of the guild called Shamrock. She is also a Russian scientist who studies virtual reality and an idol. On the other hand, Nijika "Rain" Karatachi is Seven's older sister and a Sword Art Online Survivor. She was expelled from Shamrock after lying to the guild.
"Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization" features Japanese voices with various text translations including English, Spanish, French, Italian and German, as well as new NPC characters Premiere (Yuiko Tatsumi) and Genesis (Kazuyuki Okitsu).
