After an expanded period of doubt about Daniel Craig's destiny with the James Bond franchise - fired him by saying "I'd rather slash my wrists" than play the figurative role for the fifth time - it now seems the seventh Bond has rather reformed his tune.
Despite remarks that he made to the conflicting while promoting 2015'sSpectre, it seems Daniel Craig may not have up-ranked in his license to kill once and for all.
The 48-year-old James Bond actor - who popularly said he'd rather slash his wrists than continue his run as 007 - made a figure during the New Yorker Festival this weekend to talk about the projects he is presently working on, but ended up fielding a query about his future with the secret agent franchise.
"They say that s-t sticks, and that definitely stuck," he joked, referencing his previous remarks, according to Vulture. "It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre]. I'd been away from home for a year. Boo-hoo. It's a good gig. I enjoy it."
Craig - whose Bond résumé also includes Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall - went on to clue that he has kept the door open to a comeback. "As far as I'm concerned, I've got the best job in the world. I'll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it," he said. "If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly."
Tom Hiddleston has seemingly been in talks to play the role, with Jamie Bell also consulted. Craig, however, says there have been "no chats" about the next admission in the franchise.
With the lead role not even validated, details about the 25th Bond film are clearly scarce, although The Night Manager's Susanne Bier has been tipped to become the series' first female director.
