Red Dead Redemption 2 Forecasted Sales To Exceed 15 Million Upon Release

It's official! Rockstar Games just announced the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, the sequel or probably a prequel to the 2010 open world action-adventure game. Not only that, Rockstar even added a juicy detail about the upcoming game, Red Dead Redemption release date is set for fall 2017. Yes, you can now all heave a sigh of relief.

Not only that, Rockstar even hinted in its Oct.18 tweet with the most-talked about red western poster that Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer will be released Thursday, Oct.20 at 11AM EST. Thank you, Rockstar!

Red Dead Redemption 2 Predicted Sales

With the recent revelation of Red Dead Redemption 2, it has already been predicted to sell at least 15 million copies according to Cowen & Company, a research firm. While some might think it's way too premature to speculate the upcoming game's sales, Cowen & Company believes that 15 million sold units for RDR2 is even considered a "conservative approximation". Why? It's not hard to agree on the fact that Red Dead Redemption was considered as one of the top games for PS3 and Xbox 360 which definitely aided in growing its reputation over the years. Also, the Red Dead Redemption 2 hype (with Rockstar posting mysterious tweets) was very much well-received by fans, critics, and almost everyone in the gaming community.

Red Dead Redemption Sales

As of August 2015, Red Dead Redemption had over 14 million units shipped as well as a 6000 percent sales jump after Rockstar declared that RDR is going to be in Xbox One after all, with the help of backwards compatibility feature. With the abovementioned numbers, isn't it enough to believe Cowen & Company's predicted sales for Red Dead Redemption 2?

Additionally, Cowen & Company mentioned that Grand Theft Auto 5 sales of 65 million units are actual evidence of "increased concentration of unit sales in top titles since Red Dead Redemption's release in 2010." Red Dead Redemption 2 is also predicted to gain more sales if a "brand-new online multiplayer experience" will be actually implemented.

Then again, we also have to note that Rockstar has had a history of game delays wherein Cowen & Company speculated that the Red Dead Redemption 2 revelation "might have already been pushed back" but wasn't shared to the public.

Whether Red Dead Redemption 2 was indeed a delay, it won't matter so much now since everyone has finally something huge to look forward to. Spring 2017, bring it on!
