Ford Recalls Mustang GT350, Here’s Why

Ford Motor Company is known worldwide for being one of the biggest name when it comes to American cars. They have introduced a lot of great vehicles that made their mark in the history of cars. However, even one of the most prolific car makers in the world also has their fair share of troubles with their creations. The recent recall of the Mustang GT350 is proof of this.

Why They Are Pulling The Reigns Back

As reported from CNET, the main reason for the recall issued by Ford motors is the engine oil cooler tubes that have not been properly crimped. This error may possibly cause a hose to break that would result to oil leakage and eventually can lead to a fire. In addition, the lack of oil in an engine from the possible leak will essentially destroy the engine itself. Fortunately, there have not been any reports yet about injuries due to these faults.

Number Of Cars And Models Affected

CNET further noted that an estimated 8,000 units of Mustang GT350 and Mustang GT350R that have been built in Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant between Feb. 24, 2015 and Aug. 30, 2016 are affected by the issue. Road and Track also reported that Ford instructed their dealers to abstain from selling, demonstrating or allowing the Mustang GT350 and Mustang GT350R to go through drive tests until all units have gone through the proper repairs as mandated by federal laws under recall circumstances.

Not All Units Are Affected And When Repairs Can be Made

Whether or not all units from the mentioned manufacturing dates are affected, enthusiasts from Mustang6G forum that inspected the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from the recalled units have confirmed that though oil coolers are present in every models, some of the Mustang GT350s units are not affected by the issue. Unfortunately, owners of Mustang GT350s will still have to wait it out because the earliest time where repairs can be carried out will start as early as January 2017 and could probably stretch all the way to March. In the meantime, enthusiasts can look forward to the 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coming into the market a few years from now.
