Toyota Hilux Fails The Moose Test Yet Again

Toyota Hilux is considered to be one of the Japanese car manufacturer's best creations. However, when faced against the Moose Test or otherwise known as the Evasive Manoeuvre Test, to see if the vehicle is capable of avoiding sudden obstacles like it should, the test proved to be too tough for it. The near-flip it made shows it clearly.

What The Moose Test Is All About And Who Competed

Huffington Post explained that the Moose Test is about testing several vehicles to go up to 60 kilometers per hour and suddenly swerve to the left and back to the right as if the driver is trying to avoid hitting a moose. Several other competing brands of vehicles also participated in the test including, Volkswagen's Amarok, Navara from Nissan and Ranger from Ford. All of these vehicles did perfectly fine in the Moose Test.

This Is Not The First Time

Apparently, this is not the first time this happened. Teknikens Värld, a Swedish auto magazine, reported that Toyota Hilux went up on two wheels during the Moose Test conducted in year 2007. Nine years have passed and the new Toyota Hilux participated once more in the same test where the incident was repeated as it went up on two wheels yet again.

What The Test Concluded And Toyota's Response

After the evident results from the test, the same magazine concluded that there is something seriously wrong with the dynamic safety system of Toyota Hilux. However, if the vehicle is to be equipped with wheels bigger than the current ones, such effects could possibly be mitigated. Despite the repeated failure in the test, Toyota Sweden is still confident of the vehicle's safety based on a number of tests they conducted during Toyota Hilux' development.
