PlayStation News And Updates: PS4 Pro Release Date Delay, PS Plus November, And A Weird New Ad

Sony is aiming to amp up its effort to market their PlayStation products in time for the holidays. They are releasing a new gaming console while fans are highly anticipating the PS Plus November lineup.

PS4 Pro

Tech Radar describes the new PS4 Pro as a supercharged PS4. While the rumored 4K resolution did not push through, Sony was able to use upscaling techniques like 'checkerboarding' to reach a 4K-like resolution.

It has a custom-chip single-processor, the x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU, 1TB of storage, 8GB RAM, and AMD Radeon Graphics.

The PS4 Pro will still support 4K content from Netflix but it won't have an Ultra HD Blu-ray player. It is priced at $400.

The release of the new PS4 Pro is set for November 10 but analyst Michael Goodman of Strategy Analytics stressed that a delay would be beneficial.

Goodman described that releasing of the PS4 Slim, PlayStation VR and PS4 Pro so close together is like having "a lot of irons in the fire right now".

"I would argue that having so many products in the market at the same time is actually not helping Sony because they are splitting the consumer dollar," said Goodman.

Free Games

PlayStation Plus subscribers are set to get more free games from the November line-up. PS4 owners can download The Deadly Tower of Monsters and Everybody Gone to the Rapture while Dirt 3 and Costume Quest 2 are available on PS3. PS Vita gets Pumped BMX+ and Letter Quest Remastered for free, as well. The last two games can also be enjoyed by PS4 users thanks to Crossplay.

The games will be available starting Tuesday, November 1. Users have until then to grab October's games Resident Evil HD, Transformers Devastation, Actual Sunlight, Code: Realize Guardian of Birth, From Dust, and Mad Riders.

According to a report, the company is "looking into" releasing games for their PlayStation VR.

PS4 Pro Commercial

The new ad by Sony is inspired by the 80s and a bit of the 70s. There's this overly enthusiastic voice pitching the product while the color scheme is desaturated reminiscent of how the TV was back then. The ad also shows some Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies in Spaceland mode scenes.
