Overwatch: How To Effectively Boost Your Win Rate Solo Matches

Let's face it, the Overwatch community is now plagued with salty and uncooperative players that inevitably screws up your Skill Rating which is really frustrating especially if you're trying to push for a higher Tier. Added to the fact that the current system is somewhat unbalanced considering that you're losing SR more than you gain (when you're not performing winning streaks), makes it even more infuriating if you somehow ended up with a troll or salty player. Now, if you're one of those players that are constantly losing SR due to these reasons then the DST will definitely help you.

Effectively Boost Your Win Rate Using DST

The DST stands for D*ck S*cking Theory which is popularized by a famous Youtuber, Sky Williams and is now a popular thread on Reddit. Basically, the essence of the DST is to constantly boost the morale of your team including that of a troll or uncooperative player. By doing so, you effectively improves the mood of the Overwatch team and uplifts the salty player to properly cooperate and indirectly "control" his or her actions without them knowing.

It may sound like an unorthodox approach for Overwatch but it's actually taking advantage of the use of Psychology which is, as you may know it, the study of human behavior. Study shows that by giving a person positive feedbacks, that person is likely to be more positive and cooperative. And in contrast, if you give a person some negative feedbacks for his errors and whatnot, that person is also likely to become even saltier. In short, the most effective way to improve your Solo matches' win-rate is to apply the so called DST.

Effective Use of DST In Overwatch

Now that you've taken a grasp of how DST works, let's now put it into simple application. Imagine yourself playing against a salty player that doesn't want to cooperate even from the beginning of the match; picking random heroes without taking into consideration the team's composition, etc. Now how will you apply DST on this one? The answer, you don't.

The thing to note about DST is that you shouldn't make it that obvious that you're begging to win. Instead, wait for a nice opportune moment such as notable plays. It's this moment where you then compliment that player for a job well done. A simple (great job, nice one) can drastically improve his or her attitude towards the entirety of the game.

Now, once you start applying the DST, keep on repeating the same strategy until the end of the game. Make them aspire to become better and to impress you even more. Through this method, you not only do you change a salty player's day but you also save you and your Overwatch team's SR from a would-be disastrous match.

That's it! Plain and simple! Remember, there's no such thing as a one man soldier and thus, you need the help of your entire team to win all of your matches. Now, if you really want to improve your win-rate in Solo matches in Overwatch then you might start applying the DST as early as today.
