According to Michael Costigan, executive producer of the "Ghost in the Shell" movie, it will be made as close as it can be to its original manga comic story. Avi Arad, the producer, also revealed the specific stories that they might borrow from the original source material. If this is true, fans of the original manga story will be able to see their favorite characters in 'real-life.'
The Producers Want To Make The Film Close To The Anime
Costigan, in an interview, stated that they want to make the "Ghost In The Shell" movie feel as if it is the exact counterpart of the anime. In this regard, Jess Hall, the movie's cinematographer, has created in every set of the film, the same colors that are seen in the anime movies. "I feel like such a geek making this movie because we are really bringing it to life so faithfully," said Costigan.
However, some are questioning the inclusion of Scarlet Johansson to the cast. They say it runs contrary to the producers' desire to aesthetically adapt the original source material. The "Ghost In The Shell" movie will allegedly refer to the main characters as "Major" instead of the original "Motokl Kusanagi." But the producers are probably allaying the fears of fans by casting Kaori Momoi, a Japanese actress, as her mother.
Will The Live-Action Film Be Different From The Original Anime?
A report said that Scarlett Johansson couldn't answer the question of how the film is different from the original anime. She said that creating a live version of the anime automatically requires certain changes. Scarlett said she accepted the role of The Major with the idea of making it her own. She also said that the "Ghost In The Shell" movie will all be about Rupert Sander's vision. Sanders is the director of the upcoming live-action movie.
