It's the weekend once again and if you've got nothing better to do, I bet that's the main reason why you stumbled upon this article. Weekends are such a relief, especially for the working person. Personally, I'd just drop dead in bed until it's Monday but sometimes I dig in to weird videogames. So I decided, heck why not write an article about weird games to play over the weekend, or any moment when you got nothing else to do?
The good guys at Cheat Sheet have posted 14 of the weirdest games per their taste, and I'm just going to pick some from there and then shell out a couple or two per my preference. Yes, there are a plethora of game types that you can dig but there's no harm in trying out the following. It's the weekend, try something new.
LSD: Dream Simulator
No, I'm not pro chemical drugs but if you are curious how taking LSD is like without ever touching it then I'd recommend this one. I'm not sure how you get it today as the game is for the good ol' PlayStation. The game allows you to walk around a dream world inspired by Hiroko Nishikawa's actual dreams. The scenario would change depending on factors, these dream affecters can't be repeated to ensure you will have unique experiences every time you slip in to dreamland. A bit of warning though, some simulated dreams might scare the heck out of you so you might want to remind yourself all the time that it's just a game.
Farming Simulator
The game might not be weird for everyone but the fact that you are simulating how to farm instead of doing it in life is a bit off. Sure, we have a bunch of simulators for flight, driving, trains, city, living human beings, etc., but this type of simulator simulates every aspect of farming. Personally, I find this weird and at the same time helpful for city dwellers since they finally will have an idea on what farming is. Who knows, maybe some of the players will be inspired to leave the city and start the farm life. Planting is fun.
Goat Simulator
Imagine yourself a goat, roaming around the streets, sticking your tongue out and yanking everyone and everything with it. Welcome to Goat Simulator, one of my favorite past times, to become a goat and just drop everything in life for a moment. The game has no real objective, well except for the mini quests that you need to do, you just go out there and be a goat. Summoning the devil is part of the game too so you might want to check it out.
Catherine
Finally, an example that's not a simulator, or is it? Catherine is a puzzle game for the PS3 and Xbox One that allows a player to control a character who's been having strange dreams. The misadventures began when the protagonist's girlfriend, Katherine (with a 'K'), pressures him about marriage. Long story short, our guy meets a girl named Catherine (with a 'C') and had some sort of a slumber party with her. Submerged in guilt, our main character starts having nightmares about his 'sin' and this is where the player would assume control as the goal is to go through each nightmare's puzzles to survive. It is up to the player's performance on how our guy gets out of his troubles as he has nightmares with different puzzles every night.
There you go, something to consider over the weekend, I can't really explain well my last example so here's a preview video below:
