It is no secret that DeMarcus Cousins is most likely not going to last in a King's uniform at the end of the season. And a lot of promising are hoping to land the arguably best center in the NBA right now. There is Boston, who along with rising star Isiah Thomas seems like a natural fit for Cousins.
Another team in the running for the big man are the Los Angeles Lakers, who's surprisingly good start would get its biggest boost with a talent like DeMarcus on the post. The last team on the list is the Portland Trail Blazers, and it could get really interesting in the West if they pull it off.
Right now, despite a few hiccups, the Golden State Warriors is still the team to beat in the West. They have four players who could score thirty on any given night. And common consensus within NBA circles knew that it will only take a matter of time before this team can figure it out and become the dominant force it looks on paper.
But if this rumor is to be believed, the Portland Trailblazers are said to be in good position to get the big man from Sacramento. The Trailblazers have plenty of juicy assets to dangle in front of a rebuilding Kings such as Evan Turner, Allan Crabbe, and Meyers Leonard. The King's can ship some of these players along with their star CJ McCollum for Cousins.
If they can pull this off, it might not be a stupid idea to think that the Golden State Warriors won't have a rosy path to the finals.
I for one, think the Trailblazers will have a lot of success against the Warriors if they have Cousins. The Sacramento center is known for bullying his way with crisp post moves and an automatic short jumper. He has shown this a lot of times against the Golden State Warriors, a team which has some problem when it comes to protecting the paint.
Let us not forget Portland's superstar, Damian Lillard, who has shown every inch of brilliance these past few seasons. A Damian Lillard-DeMarcus Cousin's pick and roll are going to be the deadliest weapon in the league. Dame would also get a lot of open shots once Cousins starts clogging the lane.
There is no reason to doubt that Cousin's best home would be in Portland where he would have another Superstar to play with. With Cousins in Portland, the West becomes wide open between the Warriors, Spurs, and Trailblazers.
The only question know is will this whole thing happen? While the King's are actively trying to trade for Cousins, some sources are saying that the team is overvaluing the big man and may not get a deal done in time.
While Cousins has the talent so many teams sought for in a big man. The guy also has an equally formidable attitude to match. He has been known to butt heads with authority and is often called out for being too immature.
Hopefully, the King's can figure out what to do with Cousins and both parties can grow better from all of this.
