How The 'Galaxy Note' Family Survived The Exploding Battery Issue; Recent Developments On Phone Revealed

Samsung's unexpected Galaxy Note 7 recall was a huge blow to the South Korean-based company. There was no doubt that Samsung took a massive financial hit, as well as its image being badly hurt after having to recall the faulty Galaxy Note 7 phablets twice. Samsung ultimately shut the phone down only a few months after they officially launched it. Some reports even said that the company is willing to dump the entire Galaxy Note lineup in order to clean up its name. However, it doesn't seem to be the case, as new reports say that Samsung has already planned a Galaxy Note 8 phone.

According to Blass

Famous Samsung gadgets leaker Evan Blass took to twitter to reveal that Samsung is planning to make two Galaxy S8 models and an upcoming Galaxy Note 8 intended for release next year. "Samsung Galaxy S8 models are indeed skipping SM-G94* model numbers, will ship as SM-G950 & SM-G955," he said in his tweet. "Know what else is in the works? SM-N950."

Samsung already developing their next phablet phone

The number '4' has been believed to bring some bad luck in Korea, which is why Samsung skips it when it comes to numbering schemes. That would imply that the SM-N950 would, no doubt be the successor to the SM-N930, which is the codename for the Galaxy Note 7. There are still possibilities that Samsung might still decide to cancel out the Galaxy Note 8, but at the meantime, it looks like the company has bounced back and is actively in the planning phase of their upcoming new phablet next year. Other reports also claim that Samsung is looking to target potential Galaxy Note 7 owners with a much bigger Galaxy S8 variant in 2017.

Blast's the second tweet

In his second tweet, Blass mentioned that both Galaxy S8 variants would be having edge displays. Recent reports also mention that Samsung is planning on ditching flat screens for future flagship smartphones. That isn't as surprising since the Galaxy Note 7 did not have a flat version.
