Samsung Sets 8GB RAM Standard For Future Phones; What Does This Mean For Apple?

Because of the misfortunate experiences that the company is experiencing now, it is expected that Samsung will do what they do best, developing a new system on a chip and memory processing technology.

Samsung just launched their new 8 Gigabyte Low Power Double Data Rate 4 (LPDDR4) mobile DRAM package, a memory chip that doubles the capacity and the speed of the DRAM that are mostly used in personal computers.

It is previously reported that the said company had started mass producing semiconductors with a 10 nanometer FinFET Technology, a breakthrough in the smartphone industry. The 8GB DRAM package can operate up to 4,266 Mbps and will totally change and enhance the mobile experience of mobile phone users, especially those who have pretty large HD displays.

Joo Sun Choi, the executive Vice President of Samsung's Memory Sales and Marketing said that the powerful 8GB mobile DRAM solution will be able to provide a solution for the next generation flagship mobile phones around the world.

Samsung is Back on the Rise

With the new DRAM package, we can expect that we can fully utilize the mobile phones of the future with an advantage of the capacity since smartphones nowadays are usually undercut and short of memory. The 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM package will have a dimension of 15 mm x 15 mm x 1 mm, which is an acceptable size to fit inside a mobile phone.

4K content, virtual reality and other high-end features are what people are expecting for the future mobile phones and with Samsung's new 8GB DRAM package, manufacturers will be able to easily produce phones that will offer these kinds of features without having to worry about the balance between battery consumption and high-quality performance. This breakthrough is going to trailblaze the future of slim yet efficient phones.

With all this said, other companies like Apple are doing their best to level the playing field. Right now, their best bet is to hold on the possibility that recently released iPhone 7 will give them the credit that they deserve.
