"The Originals" season 4 is scheduled to air in January 2017 but as early as now, fans are hoping that the upcoming installment will not be the last one for the series. Showrunner Julie Plec hinted that season 4 might not be the end for the series. She also had high hopes that the characters in "The Vampire Diaries" will find their way to New Orleans.
"The Originals" Will Not End With Season 4
Since "The Vampire Diaries" is in its final season, fans are hopeful that its spinoff series "The Originals" will have more seasons. Plec has been cryptic about the fate of the spinoff since she thinks that the series will continue to run "for another couple years."
Plec may be vocal with her wishes to continue the show but the final word would still be with The CW. It is possible that the network will renew the series for another season if the ratings are good. Until then, fans can only hope that "The Originals" season 4 will not be the final installment.
"The Vampire Diaries" Crossover
One thing that fans want to hear about in the upcoming season of "The Originals" is the crossover with "The Vampire Diaries". There have been speculations that Caroline will make her way to New Orleans to help Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) with his predicament. Plec also mentioned in her interviews that there was a character that she decided not to kill on TVD since that person could reappear in "The Originals." Characters that make it out alive in TVD season 8 could all move over to the spin-off and they might be the key to saving the Mikaelsons.
The past five years had not been great for the Mikaelson clan and for Klaus in particular. It is still unknown if there is a chance for Klaroline to happen but fans are hoping that Caroline (Candice King) would be the one to save Klaus. Meanwhile, there are also speculations that Hope (Phoebe Tonkin), Klaus' daughter, would be the ticket to his freedom.
The CW scheduled "The Originals" season 4 for a midseason premiere in 2017 but there is no specific premiere date as of now.
