Rumors are swirling that Netflix's "House of Cards" season 5 will greatly be affected by the recent U.S. presidential election turnout. With a new president taking over the country, the political drama "House of Cards" might just be the most interesting series to binge-watch at the moment. This is most especially because the character Frank Underwood is speculated to be Donald Trump-inspired.
Trump's electoral victory has evidently started a frenzy among U.S. citizens including a large number of Hollywood personalities. Creator Beau Willimon is one of those who fearlessly commented on Trump's victory. Willimon's Twitter posts revealed his stand against the new president which had fans worrying about how his thoughts might affect "House of Cards" season 5.
While cancelation is not a subject for worrying among fans, it is Frank Underwood's fate in the series that they are thinking will be affected. Rumors are rife that the "House of Cards" season 5 plotline might be influenced by Willimon's disgust with Trump. New talks are also swirling that Frank is actually a representation of Trump.
It can be recalled that Frank established a strong personality and go-getter attitude in "House of Cards" which were seen in the previous seasons. Since Frank is believed to have similar characteristics as Trump, a first theory claims that "House of Cards" season 5 might feature the darker side of the former.
A second theory has it that the fifth season will follow previous predictions that Frank will meet his demise. Countless rumors surfaced that Frank's wife, Claire, will kill him so she can nab the presidential seat. While Frank is said to be rooted out of Trump's characteristics, Claire is surmised to be a representation of Hillary Clinton. With that said, fans are more than convinced that the show will take that path to further demonstrate Willimon's disapproval of Trump.
Meanwhile, it was previously confirmed that Campbell Scott and Patricia Clarkson will join the original cast of "House of Cards" for its fifth installment. The roles that the stars will be playing are still kept under wraps, but speculations suggest the addition of the two will compensate for Frank's departure from the story.
A specific air date for "House Of Cards" season 5 has not been revealed yet, but it is expected to come towards the end of 2017 or early in 2018.
