Pokemon GO Japan Lapras Event Update: Niantic Plans More Pokemon GO Events After Recent Success

The Pokemon Go Japan Lapras is currently ongoing but it seems to have been a success based on various reports. This may convince Niantic to hold similar special spawning events in the future.

Japan Lapras Event Held To Help Disaster Stricken Tohoku Region

Pokemon GO developer Niantic announced via Twitter that a Lapras phenomenon is occurring at the coastal areas of the Tohoku Region in which Fukushima, Iwate and Miyage Prefecture as the most likely places. These particular areas were among the hardest hit in Japan by a tsunami that ravaged the country on 2011.

The rare Lapras Spawn Event is being held in order to serve as a powerful incentive for avid Pokemon GO players to visit the mentioned areas. The number of Pokemon GO tourists coming in the Tohoku region is expected to boost the local economy. Avid Japanese Pokemon GO players went there to take advantage of such rare event to catch one of the rare Pokemon in the game. Interestingly even foreign Pokemon GO players are coming to help out and catch the numerous Lapras appearing in the Japanese coastlines.

When Will Niantic Hold Another Special Event

The special Japan Lapras spawn event was made possible by the close coordination of the Japanese government and Niantic. The event is designed to help the tsunami stricken region to recover financially. Some consider it unlikely that the Pokemon GO developer will hold another event in the future. Others however, are hopeful that Niantic will hold another event but hopefully, such event will be available to a lot of players and countries.

For the time being, Niantic may make it a tradition to start holding special Pokemon special spawn events in various countries that have been battered by various natural disasters. There was also an earlier report that European businessmen are negotiating with Niantic to hold special Pokemon GO spawn events within a limited area such as hotel or restaurant.
