When Amazon put the NES Classic Edition on sale, it sold out within minutes. And while it was the same for various other retailers, other platforms still offer the device as much as three times the retail amount. However, WalMart apparently had the foresight for this and has been providing interested buyers a daily opportunity to grab the console.
Nintendo has confirmed that it will restock the NES Classic Edition to all retail partners before the holidays, but has not indicated exactly when this will occur. Fortunately, there is one other outlet that still has stock of the unit and is still selling the same at retail price. Moreover, WalMart will reset the opportunity to grab one every day until November 18.
According to Forbes, WalMart has promised that stocks of the NES Classic Edition will be available throughout the week starting 2pm PST everyday. Before that time, the page will indicate overpriced resale items. But when the clock hits 2pm, the online store will then show its US$60 retail price until stocks for that day last.
The NES Classic Edition, which is a revamped miniature version of the 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System, went on sale last week. As mentioned earlier, the console sold out within minutes of going on sale. Because of this demand, individuals who were able to get their hands on the unit have jacked up the prices on eBay. So while the unit is available, it definitely comes at a price, which is why WalMart's offering is so enticing.
As noted by Polygon, the NES Classic comes preloaded with 30 of the best retro games, including three "Super Mario Bros." titles, "The Legend Of Zelda," "Final Fantasy" and "Donkey Kong." A purchase of the unit comes with the necessary cables and a single controller. The console is capable of multi-player, but the additional controller will need to be purchased separately.
