Pokemon GO is still new to the mobile game industry, but it has already acquired a huge following. And yes, even up to now, it's still considered as one of the best. Nevertheless, one can't deny the fact that its popularity is starting to fade. Lots of players all over the world are starting to find the game quite boring in one way or another. Heck, even in social media sites, the interaction isn't just as lively as it was before. So what could be the possible reasons? Why, despite the recent updates and new features, the player pool is starting to decline?
Winter Is Coming To Pokemon GO
For the hit T.V show Game of Thrones, Winter is a much highly anticipated season. But as far as Pokemon GO is concerned, it's the other way around. Because seriously, it would be difficult for players to go outside, risk their body to the cold wind and try to find Pokemon. There will definitely be lesser trainers (if there'll be) who'll go outside and play the game. Remember, Niantic's title is a game that should be played outdoors. Sure, the GPS system could still work, but the snow will be a hindrance.
Pokemon GO Gyms Are Quite Messy
Let's face it, Pokemon GO gyms aren't that pleasing anymore. And why is that? Well, thanks to the recent update -- it's almost possible to take any gyms players can encounter in their journey. It's so simple that you can do it with your eyes close. Unlike before, players now can climb the ladder much easier. I'm not saying it's an entirely bad thing, but where's the fun in that?
Probably it's the intention of the Pokemon GO developers to lure people together and take gyms. But remember, this doesn't apply to all sorts of trainers. There are those who simply want to do it on their own. The new system really has a love/hate relationship to other players.
Pokemon GO Is Simply Boring
In reality, Pokemon GO is boring. Or perhaps, you wouldn't notice it at face value right away; however, as each day passes by, you'll begin to feel it. Think about all the common Pokemon you get to face all day. Sure, it was exciting to catch the likes of Rattata and Pidgey at first. But, as you move forward, it's just ridiculous most especially if you get to acquire them on the most part of your journey. Simply put, the game is repetitive, and the new features (i.e. Buddy System and Daily Quests, among others) didn't entirely lift the spirits of players. Personally, I would love to see a battling system. You know, like some sort of PvP style gameplay. And maybe, just maybe, it'll make me think twice about the game. I don't know, it's my own view anyway.
Pokemon GO Is A Battery Hog
Since your goal is to get notified for whatever Pokemon GO creature that spawns right then and there, you have to keep the app running in your phone's background. But alas, this will eat up most of your battery's life. And take note, you have to consider the power needed to run a mobile connection as well as stable GPS connectivity. Combine all of these and your phone's battery will be dead in hours.
According to Rocket News, a survey conducted by MMD Laboratories (a Japanese marketing research company) shows that battery hog is the primary reason why people stopped playing Pokemon GO. Out of the 2,190 players interviewed, 42 percent of them agree. And anywhere you'll go, this is among the reasons why people have removed themselves from the titular AR mobile game.
