"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 5 spoilers reveal that Stefan will make a life-changing decision following his failed attempt to salvage Damon from Sybil's helm. Stefan will finally lay down his last card and put Damon down.

Stefan's Desperate Decision To Kill Damon

Promo of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 5 titled "Coming Home Was A Mistake" shows Stefan (Paul Wesley) dropping the statement: "We have to put him down." Latest spoilers reveal that Stefan will embark on a desperate decision to take down Damon (Ian Somerhalder) following the fiasco of his last-ditch attempt to save his brother. Damon has been under Sybil's (Nathalie Kelley) full control after that entry in the vault in the previous season.

The promo also shows Damon expressing his intentions to kill Stefan, Bonnie (Kat Graham), Caroline (Candice King), Alaric (Matthew Davis), and the remaining people at Mystic Falls. Is Stefan and his colleagues ready to let go of Damon?

On other spoilers, Caroline has some fine words for Bonnie regarding her relationship with Enzo (Michael Malarkey) who has been under Sybil's helm like Damon. Meanwhile, what will Matt discover upon deciphering a box of cryptic messages sent to him?

Episode 4 "An Eternity Of Misery" Recap

Episode 4 titled "An Eternity of Misery" was a lot to take in following a spate of revelations. For one, Sybil disclosed to Stefan about her long-lost sinister sister who happens to be hiding inside Seline (Kristen Gutoskie), Caroline and Alaric's nanny. As their conversation got deeper, Sybil admitted that while she was using her powers for the good, her sister on the other hand was using it the evil way.

Hence, Stefan discovered that Sybil was after all forced to use her powers the evil way. His conversation with Sybil made him reflect of Damon's situation. Is Sybil just brainwashing Stefan? How can Stefan save his brother now?

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 5 airs Friday, Nov. 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
