‘Reign,’ ‘iZombie,’ ‘Riverdale,’ ’The Originals,’ And ‘The 100’ Premiere Dates Are Here; The CW’s Midseason Schedule Revealed

The CW has finally unveiled its midseason lineup for 2017 and revealed the premiere dates of its highly anticipated drama "Riverdale." Four shows, namely, "The Originals," "Reign," "iZombie," and "The 100" are back for another season. Although many fans are relieved to see that a premiere is set for their favorite shows, many are still worried about the schedule shakeup for next year since the network changed the entire schedule except for their Monday lineup.

"The Originals" Takes Over "The Vampire Diaries" Timeslot

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is going to be the finale for the series and based on The CW's latest programming schedule, the last episode of the series is scheduled to air on Friday, March 10 on an 8/7 c timeslot. "The Originals" will then take over its timeslot on March 17. "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff will be back for season 4.

This change will alter TVD's current schedule -- instead of Wednesdays, the series will be aired on Fridays. The historical fiction drama "Reign" season 4 debut will happen on Feb. 10 and it will air at 9/8c right after "The Vampire Diaries."

"The 100" And "iZombie" Premiere

After much anticipation, "The 100" season 4 will be back on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 9/8c after "Arrow." Meanwhile, fans of Liv are in for a long wait since the series is scheduled to air on Tuesday, April 4. "iZombie" season 3 premiere will be a two-hour special and will air on 8/7c on the said date. The show will start airing on its regular time slot on April 11 which is 9/8c right after "The Flash."

Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 24, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" will air at 9/8c right after "The Flash." By April, the show will be replaced by "iZombie."

"Riverdale" Series Premiere

If there is one show that The CW's fans are waiting for, it is the new drama "Riverdale" which is loosely based on "Archie" comics. The series will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 9/8c right after "The Supernatural."

The change in the network's schedule is a result of the introduction of new shows. The CW needs to juggle the shows since the programming period each week is just 10 hours.
