'ReLIFE' Live Action Movie Cast Adds Elaiza Ikeda As Rena Kariu; Film With Original Ending Premieres In April 2017

Elaiza Ikeda ("Wolf Girl & Black Prince") will join the cast of "ReLIFE" live action movie as Rena Kariu, a student in Aoba High School who is good in both sports and academics. The movie will premiere in Japan on April 15, 2017 and since the Yayoiso's original web manga is not finished yet, the film will have an original ending.

The cast members for "ReLIFE" live action that were announced previously include 18-year-old artists Taishi Nakagawa ("Your Lie in April," "Kyo no Kira-kun" live action) as Arata Kaizaki and Yuna Taira ("Aozora Yell," "Ankoku Joshi") as Chizuru Hishiro. On the other hand, Mahiro Takasugi ("P to JK" live-action) will play Kazuomi Oga, Kariu's love interest. The movie will start filming in November, according to Crunchyroll.

"ReLIFE" follows the story of 27-year-old Arata Kaizaki, a jobless, single man who had been struggling to make money since he resigned from his company only after three months of working. Coming from a drinking session with his old friends, Arata was recruited by Ryo Yoake for the ReLIFE experiment as Project #002. Ryo gave Arata a pill that will turn him back to his 17-year-old self and re-live his life. Accepting the job, he became a student at Aoba High School where he met the intelligent but socially awkward Chizuru Hishiro who wanted to have friends.

Arata started to like Chizuru but he struggled to deny his feelings thinking about their age gap and that he would go back to his real life after the experiment. However, it was revealed later on in the story that Chizuru is also a part of the "ReLIFE" project as Project #001 and she is also hiding her feelings for Arata for the same reason. Chizuru is the first "ReLIFE" subject but she was deemed as a failure by the project heads because there was no change in her behavior after a year.

"ReLIFE" was serialized by NHN PlayArt on Comico website starting Oct. 12, 2013. The physical copy of the manga was published starting 2014 and a 12-episode anime adaptation was aired from July 2 to Sept. 24, 2016.
