Audi Just Unveiled The New A5 At The LA Auto Show

Audi, German carmaker famous for the TT Quattro, A4 and S4, have just unveiled their newest cars at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2018 Audi A5 and S5. They are reintroducing the sports back design with the new cars and will follow through the design of the popular S7 that has a fastback design. The sports back design is a hatchback in a way, but with a sleeker design that holds the look of a luxury sedan and a boot the opens up from rear windscreen to the rear bonnet to open the trunk.

The Audi A5 And S5 Both Offer More Than 200Horsepower

The A5 comes with a two-liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 252 horsepower to the wheels. Zero to 60 miles can be attained in as little as 5.6 seconds with either the seven-speed dual clutch automatic or the six-speed manual transmission. The S5 gets a bigger and bolder three-liter V6 engine that gives a fascinating 354 horsepower. The S5 can reach zero to 60 miles in just 4.4 seconds and comes with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.

Both cars offer seating for five, generous interior space and a huge cargo space. The front of the cars both feature the trademark single frame grilles that appear wider and flatter than its predecessors. The interior has been refined and offers a more driver-focused technology design while still maintaining the minimalistic look. 3D inlay trims with climate control integration spread from the door panels and to the dashboard. Bang & Olufsen provides premium quality music with the sound system, while the panoramic sunroof gives a brighter interior.

Using Audi's Quattro technology On Both Cars

The sports back variants are equipped with all wheel drive Quattro technology that comes with a self-locking center differential to offer increased agility. The steering has been optimized with its redesigned five-link suspension. The cars infotainment system is the same as the one that can be found on the coupe and Cabriolet models. Audi' virtual cockpit, MMI Touch with handwriting recognition come standard with the new cars. For added performance and safety, Audi's adaptive cruise controls with stop and go, and traffic jam assist can also be utilized by the driver. The Audi A5 and S5 Sports Back will be available in the U.S. by spring of 2017.
