'Westworld' Updates: Return Of The Mysterious Man In Black Confirmed For Season 2

The new HBO sci-fi series, “Westworld” is creating quite a stir nowadays with its futuristic western fusion plot. The viewers are already on their toes as the series’ end draws near. With news of a second season, more updates have been revealed.

“Westworld” Season 2 was recently reported to be in the works but it seems like HBO has greenlighted the second installment with the release of new updates. Apparently, the second season will be seeing more of the prominent characters. This could be a spoiler, or not, but it has been reported that the mysterious Man In Black will be returning for next season.

Ed Harris, who plays the role of the Man In Black in “Westworld”, confirmed this on his appearance on BBC Radio 4. He said, “As a matter of fact, I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who is a creator of this thing with his wife Lisa Joy and they’re doing another season. They’re going to do ten more episodes, and I will be involved.”

Ed Harris portrays the role of a person who is only known as Man In Black. His character apparently is a key villain character in the “Westworld” series. The Man In Black, as intriguing as he is, is a rich and sadistic man who frequents the Westworld park as he searches for the depths of the said place. Outside the realm of the Westworld park, he is the owner of a prominent medical foundation.

With the “Westworld” series playing in two timelines, approximately 30 years apart, fans have already started to speculate a lot of theories on how and why the Man In Black returns in the second season. His involvement could come off as a huge plot twist. A debate over whether he’s an android or human at all has been going on for some time and both sides have tried to prove their points.

There’s still a lot more to go even with just a few more episodes left in “Westworld” Season 1. Apparently, the writers and producers are planning to run the series up to five seasons. The second season is reportedly set to release either in late 2017 or sometime in the first half of 2018. “Westworld” Season 1 currently airs on HBO every weekend until Dec. 4.
