It's officially here! Niantic has finally confirmed the Thanksgiving event for Pokémon GO beginning Wednesday, Nov. 23. The special event brings double XP and double Stardust until Nov. 30.
Pokémon GO - Double XP, Double Stardust
A few days after the Thanksgiving event was reported from data mining of Update 0.47.1., Niantic is officially bringing at the tip of every Pokémon GO Trainer's finger the much-anticipated double XP and double Stardust gains when completing in-game actions. The event will be live starting Nov. 23 at exactly 00:00 UTC time and ending Nov. 23 at exactly 00:00 UTC.
In the official blog of Pokémon GO posted last Monday, Nov. 21, Niantic said: "It has been an incredible experience since we launched Pokémon GO a few short months ago in July. We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise. We are humbled that hundreds of millions of you around the world have joined us on this journey. So we would like to say thank you - and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community."
Fans have been wanting Niantic to hold the event despite the doubts due to the string of events for Pokémon GO. Putting the Thanksgiving event in reality only means the developer never failed to listen to its huge fan base.
Pokémon GO - Thanksgiving Event Guide
To maximize XP and Stardust gains during the Thanksgiving event, trainers have a laundry list of options to do that. Basically, this special event will serve as a lasting Lucky Egg buff with regard to XP gain with additional Stardust drops.
Trainers must do the following activities: Lucky Egg evolution is now 4x efficient (2x Lucky Egg + 2x event bonus); daily Pokémon streak should be live to get 1000 XP and 1200 Stardust for First Catch of the Day and 4000 XP and 4800 Stardust for 7 day streak. Finally, the foundation of everything, trainers should catch Pokémon and hatch eggs.
