Pokémon Sun and Moon Tips and Tricks: The Best Way To Boost Your EV

We all want to engage in a competitive Pokémon battle as early as we can right? And in order for us to improve our winrate, we basically need to make our Pokémon strong meaning we need to maxout all of our Pokémon EV (Effort Values). Today, we're going to show you the best way to boost all of your Pokémon EV in just a matter of minutes! That's right, boosting your EV in Pokémon Sun and Moon is a lot easier than the previous Generations.

Pokémon Sun and Moon Tricks: How to Boost Your EV

Now before we go into the actual guide, we need a couple of essential things first. The primary one is to have any Pokémon that's infected with Pokérus. What Pokérus does is that it doubles the amount of EV that the Pokémon gains through battles. What you need to do is to find a Pokémon (via trade or battling wild Pokémon) and infect all your Pokémon with the virus. You can do this by simply putting it in party with your team. Take note that the infection lasts for 24-48 days only so you should save a Pokémon with Pokérus in your PC for future uses.

The next essential thing you need is the EV-enhancing items (preferably the item that corresponds to the stat that you're trying to raise). Here is the list of all EV-enhancing items in the game. In Shofu's guide for example, he's using Power Anklets (+8 Speed Boost per monster kill) as he's trying to boost Speed on his team. You can purchase all of the Power Items (EV-enhancing items) in the Battle Royal Dome. Lastly, what we need is the Adrenaline Orb to do the chaining method which will be explained down below.

Now that we know all of the necessary items that we need, we will now proceed to the guide. With Pokérus and the Power items equipped, you'll now head to a specific area where you'll find monsters that boost a certain EV stat that you wanted. Shofu made a short list of the areas where you can battle against monsters that boost EV:

Melemele Meadow - Kill Psyduck for 1 SP ATK
Melemele Meadow - Kill Oricorio for 2 SP ATK
Route 3 - Kill Spearow or Cutiefly for 1 SPEED
Ten Carot Hill - Kill Roggenrola for 1 DEFENSE
Route 1 - Kill Metapod for 2 DEFENSE
Route 1 - Kill Yungoos for 1 ATTACK
Poni Canyon - Kill Machoke for 2 ATTACK
Route 1 - Kill Caterpie for 1 HP
Route 1 - Kill Ledyba for 1 SP DEF

Now, what you need to do is to fight those monsters and then do the Adrenaline Orb chaining method and keep on killing the same monsters over-and-over again. This trick is so far the best known method to boost your entire team's EV as this boosts your EV to 36 per battle. Pretty crazy right? It also comes down to the buff of the Power Items. In Generation VII, the Power Items' EV boost was doubled compared from the previous Generation VI which is again doubled thanks to the Pokérus.
