Subaru is known as one of the safest brands in the auto industry. There are countless stories of accidents involving Subaru cars where its passengers survived and even came out unscathed. Performance may be sidelined a little bit as Subaru's 2018 WRX STI features safety above everything else.
A Little Performance Upgrade For 2018 Subaru WRX STI
According to report from NSEA Voice, the 2018 Subaru WRX STI will receive an upgrade in terms of performance but buyers should not expect a whole lot of it. Despite the Subaru WRX STI being a performance car in Subaru's lineup, the automaker has focused on making the 2018 model safer rather than more powerful.
Changes In Design
The Subaru 2018 WRX STI will also have a few changes in its design. It was reported that the wheelbase will be bigger by 105.1 inches. An addition of 1.6-inch in length and 1.5-inch in width are to be expected in the new model and the ride height has also been lowered by 0.4-inch.
Safety Above Everything Else
Torque News reported that the 2018 Subaru WRX STI is based on a new Global Platform that allows substantial changes to be incorporated in the new model, particularly in its driving dynamics. It was mentioned that the rigidity of the new model's chassis has been increased up to 70 percent which makes steering more responsive. Compared to other models, the 2018 WRX STI will also have 50 percent less body roll and better cornering dynamic. Lastly, crash energy absorption is increased by 40 percent as reported.
More Than Just A Tagline
Given how the Subaru 2018 WRX STI features safety above everything else, it's clear how the automaker's tagline of "Love. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru." is more than just that. For those that want performance but also value safety at the same time, this is a car that perfectly suits such lifestyle.
