Game Freak has just issued a Pokemon Sun and Moon challenge for all players. Everyone can participate, but this has a deadline. If it's a success, each participant will receive a hefty reward. Interested yet in the game's first Global Event? Read on to find out how to register.
How To Register In Pokemon Sun And Moon Global Event
Whether you have Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon, you need to be at the point where you can now access the Pokemon Center. Go to Festival Plaza and locate the castle in the middle. Use the PC on your right and choose "Game Sync."
In the following pop-up, choose "Yes." This will connect you to the internet while saving your progress. Read the succeeding explanation about the feature then choose "Create your Game Sync ID." Click "Yes" afterward to get your ID, which you should take note of.
When you have your Game Sync ID, go to the Global Link website and log in using your Pokemon Trainer Club Account (register here if you haven't got one already). When a prompt appears asking you to register your game, input the ID.
You will then be able to play with the registered game. You can now connect to Pokemon Global Link for the current Global Event, online tournaments, other Global Missions and to even create your own tournament. Note, however, that the latter feature is still yet to officially go live in 2017.
Pokemon Sun And Moon Global Event Mechanics
"Band together with your fellow Trainers in global missions, a new feature of the Pokémon Global Link," the official announcement reads. "Global missions are limited-time events where everyone tries to meet a collective goal. If the goal is met, everyone who participated gets a global mission reward! Don't worry if the goal isn't reached-there will still be a global mission participation prize for everyone who chipped in."
The current Pokemon Sun and Moon Global Event starts today, Nov. 29, and lasts until Dec. 13. Participants are tasked to catch 100 million monsters collectively within the duration. If the goal is met, everyone who participated will be rewarded with 1,000 Festival Coins. If it's not, then there is still a participation prize of 100 Festival Coins.
Festival Coins can be used in - yup - Festival Plaza. There's a variety of activities to do there, such as having a makeover, leveling Pokemon up, buying assortments of items and more, per Kotaku. The activities depend on the Festival Plaza's development, so it is a worthwhile investment.
As can be guessed, these activities require Festival Coins. However, 1,000 coins are a lot. Like, a lot. Really. You might even have a hard time spending it all.
If you're not interested in catching Pokemon like crazy just to reach a crazy goal, then we advise you to use Game Sync anyway. Just participate and proceed on your normal Pokemon Sun and Moon gaming life. If the whole world reaches the 100 million quota, you get 1,000 Festival Coins. If not, you get 100 anyway. It's a win-win situation.
