Nokia Lumia Was Hot News In Wake Of 2013 MWC

There's little doubt that the hot news in the wake of the Mobile World Congress was anything to do with Nokia's Lumia phones.

In fact, in many ways this was the Week of Lumia.

Earlier in the week, we had our side-by-side comparison of all of the Lumia's in the Windows 8 range. We showed how the Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 720, Lumia 620 and Lumia 520 stacked up against one another, with the Lumia 920 obviously coming out on top (though the 720 and 620 held their own, too).

MyNokiaBlog, which made the video upon which we based our information, attracted numerous commenters whose posts ranged from "They all look like overgrown winegums; I wish Nokia would produce something classy," to "Be careful with that! You may get Lumia overdose!"

We also had a story this week dealing with a similar phone-to-phone comparison in putting the HTC One up against the Lumia 920 and Lumia 720 as regards their low-light camera performance. Symbian Tweet was kind enough to produce the video this time, with some fascinating results that need to be seen and heard as well as read.

Once again, the Lumia 920 took the prize, though the Lumia 720 did too "hold its own" against the HTC One.

This week there was also our revelation that the Lumia 920 would be on the Canadian LTE network Rogers. Unfortunately, not everyone was so delighted by the Rogers connection, with one poster referring to his "Yellow Rogers Lumia Disaster" in a screed he published on Friday, March 1.

We decided to hit up the little guys with a hands-on review of the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520. Another hot topic this week when it came to the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 was the release of their prices at the MWC, as reported by such publications as The Independent.

"These prices look superb and [at these prices] I'll definitely be picking up a Nokia 520," says one commenter on The Independent's story page.

There was the announcement itself of the Lumia 720 at the Mobile World Conference on Monday, Feb. 25.

"We simply wanted to create the best possible image quality with this product," tweeted Nokia about the Lumia 720, with 53 retweets less than five hours later.

We finally had our story about the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 hitting the UK in April. GSM Arena hit on the story, as well, with commenters posting: "i hope it will arrive in cambridge soon" and "Goodbye Android. I'm switching to Nokia Lumia."
